The Expansion of Genocide: From Hatred to Action
Exhibit 5 of the Holocaust Garden of Hope, The Appetite for Genocide Expands, exposes the devastating breadth of the Nazi regime’s genocidal ambitions as World War II engulfed Europe and beyond. This exhibit illuminates how Nazi racial hatred extended beyond Jews, targeting anyone considered inferior—Roma, disabled individuals, and other marginalized groups. Visitors will learn how propaganda, systematic policies, and chilling coordination, such as the Wannsee Conference, turned ideology into mass murder. The exhibit highlights tragic stories of deportations to death camps like Auschwitz and Terezin, where millions perished, while recognizing the incredible courage of those who risked everything to resist and rescue others.
