Counselor Federico Ciattaglia was born in 1974. He graduated from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1999 with a degree in Political Sciences.
Federico Ciattaglia joined the Italian Foreign Service in 2002. His first assignment was at the European Integration Department.
From January 2006 to July 2010 he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Italy in Doha (Qatar).
On July 2010 was assigned at the Consulate General of Italy in Barcelona (Spain) as Consul.
From April 2013 to January 2015 served as Consul General of Italy in Benghazi (Libya).
On February 2015 he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as Deputy Chief of the Central Visa Department.
From July 2015 he served at the European Union Department first as Acting chief and (on May 2016) as Chief of the Department responsible for Justice and Home Affairs as well as the migratory flows towards the Union.
From October 15th, 2018 Federico Ciattaglia was appointed Consul General of Italy in Houston.
He is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
