(HOUSTON, TX) – May 21, 2026 – As Memorial Day approaches and Americans pause to remember those who sacrificed their lives to preserve freedom, the Holocaust Remembrance Association (HRA18) is also recognizing a new generation answering the call to service, leadership, and remembrance.

This week, the Holocaust Garden of Hope honored Lucanne Robbins, whose Eagle Scout project created a temporary pathway through the Garden. Robbins is the first Eagle Scout project completed in partnership with HRA18 and the Garden.

The pathway serves as more than a physical trail. It guides visitors toward the future vision of the Holocaust Garden of Hope, leading to the planned locations of five future exhibits still waiting to be built as additional volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners join the mission.

“This path represents the road ahead,” said Rozalie Jerome, Founder of the Holocaust Remembrance Association and the Holocaust Garden of Hope. “It reflects the spirit of service, sacrifice, and leadership that Memorial Day reminds us to honor. We are deeply grateful to Lucanne Robbins, her friends, family, and the scout volunteers who helped create something meaningful that will impact generations to come.”

The special gathering included recognition of Lucanne Robbins and fellow scout volunteers, a blessing over the pathway and the future vision of the Garden, remarks about upcoming exhibits, and fellowship among community members committed to remembrance and education.

HRA18 emphasized that partnerships with local students, youth leaders, scouts, and community organizations remain central to the organization’s mission of raising future generations of Upstanders who refuse to remain silent in the face of hatred and antisemitism.

Located in Kingwood’s Kings Harbor, the Holocaust Garden of Hope is a growing outdoor memorial and educational space dedicated to Holocaust remembrance, reconciliation, education, and inspiring moral courage through remembrance.

As the nation reflects on Memorial Day, HRA18 encourages the community to remember not only those who defended freedom in war, but also the enduring responsibility each generation carries to protect truth, human dignity, and the lessons of history.
