With various flags waving through the air as the crowds make their way down Kingwood Drive accompanied by music, the March of Remembrance will serve as a stand and a proclamation in remembrance of the Holocaust, its victims and rescuers.

The community is encouraged to join in the annual walk Saturday April 26 where the event will start with an opening ceremony and Memorial service with testimonies from survivors and then a prayer walk beginning at Christ the King Lutheran Church.

The Northeast-Kingwood March of Remembrance joins different religious groups from all over the community to unite and remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.

They carry flags, sing songs and stop at each church along the march on Woodland Hills where they will have prayer points, signage for Holocaust victims and songs by the members of that particular church.

All of the participants are encouraged to then walk 1.7 miles towards the Veteran’s Honor Garden Memorial at Creekwood Middle School, up to Kingwood Drive and back to Christ the King Lutheran for fellowship, music and refreshments.

The first 500 participants will receive a commemorative backpack and lanyard.

The keynote speaker for the day will be Al Marks, a Holocaust survivor of four concentration camps and Steve Finkelman, a second generation Holocaust survivor.

The schedule is as follows:
