Houston, TX:  Grace Community Church will be the gathering point for communities across the south of Houston to come together for a Holocaust March of Remembrance on Saturday, April 6th.  Participants will reflect on not only those who were lost in the Holocaust, but on the many rescuers who took a stand to save others.

The Holocaust March of Remembrance is a nationwide interdenominational effort by Christians to stand alongside the Jewish people in their remembrance of Yom Hashoah, “The Catastrophe.”  Following the inaugural march for the Houston area held in Kingwood in 2012, the effort has spread citywide in 2013 with seven marches being held over two days in the Houston Metro area on the weekend of April 6th and 7th.

Pastor Bron Barkley, founder of Alive!  Ministries and emcee of the Houston South memorial service, explains the importance of the event, “Remembering the Holocaust of World War II is a major step toward preventing a World War III. And standing with God’s Covenant People the Jews by remembering their national sacrifice at the hand of the Nazis is a significant way to stay on the right side of Biblical prophecy and out of the grip of contemporary evil.”

The March of Remembrance Houston South location will be hosted by Grace Community Church located at 14505 Gulf Freeway.  A brief opening ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm, followed by a one mile prayer and awareness walk around the GCC campus from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.   Prayer points along the route will be represent the communities of Houston, Galveston, Pasadena, Friendswood, League City, La Porte, Seabrook, South Houston, and Webster.

The memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm featuring keynote speakers Ruth and Larry Steinfeld.  Mrs. Steinfeld was just five years old when she lived through the terror of Kristallnacht.  While she lost both of her parents in the Holocaust, she and her sister were smuggled out of the concentration camp and hidden by Christians in France.

The community is invited to attend this free event and is encouraged to preregister online at http://holocaustremembranceassociation.org/s
